Katrina Smith obtained her B.A. degree in Political Science from the University of Maryland. Eventually, her keen interest in health and wellness led her to attend a 2-year Massage Therapy program at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in Vancouver, British Columbia (B.C.), Canada, where she received extensive medical and massage training. She graduated and became licensed as a Registered Massage Therapist in 1993.
Because of their training, Registered Massage Therapists, as they are called in B.C., are an integral part of the B.C. Medical Insurance Plan. As such, Katrina worked intimately with MDs, chiropractors, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals in clinical, rehabilitation and hospital settings.
In practice, Katrina uses soft tissue therapies, the assessment, treatment and management of soft tissue injury, pain and dysfunction, as well as other manual therapies designed to facilitate movement and improve function. Her focus is to improve the health and general sense of wellbeing of her patients.
She is currently licensed in both B.C. and New Mexico and is a proud member of the Massage Therapy Association of B.C. and the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals.
In her spare time she enjoys hiking, drumming and meditation.
